Many of our members attended the Pride ‘Friday Late’ last summer and enjoyed the very special feeling of being amongst friends. We do though recall the statements made from the bandstand in the Carfax which confirmed just how much our transgender community is under attack. We believe that many politicians, some in the mainstream and social media, are attacking the transgender community for political gain and we believe they are wrong to do so. There is no place in society to attack or ridicule an individual based on their gender or sex and we stand with all of our communities and especially the transgender community who have been subject to this sort of abuse.
Last year’s Pride event here in Horsham was co-ordinated by Crawley Pride and we are excited to learn that since then with on-going support from Crawley, new LGBT-focused events, social gatherings, and support services are being planned.

As councillors we will engage fully and press for the setting up of a convention so that the voices of everyone from the LGBQT+ Community are heard.
