Ros Shiel - Labour Candidate for Holbrook West

I have lived in Horsham for 27 years and have enjoyed raising a family in our beautiful town. I’ve become increasingly aware, however, of the challenges that are faced by many less advantaged Horsham residents due to years of cuts to the local services that are supposed to support them.  Covid and the cost of living crisis have only worsened the situation for many, as witness the growing demand at our foodbank, which Labour has now supported with regular donations for three years.

As a Labour Councillor, I would work hard to make sure the voices of all Horsham residents are heard, and actions taken to improve the quality of life for everyone in our town. Early investment in providing much-needed community services can go a long way and prevent situations from worsening and needing greater spend later.

The current Horsham District Council has one voice: whether Tory or Liberal Democrat, they seem to sing from the same hymn sheet! Labour offers a fresh voice,  one that is on the side of ordinary residents.  It’s time for that voice to be heard more loudly.

As well as being active within Horsham Labour Party, I’ve been a committee member of the Friends of Horsham Park, seeking to protect and promote our lovely park and ensure it is enjoyed by all residents in perpetuity. I am one of Labour’s Collection Points for the Horsham Matters food bank, and help with their fundraising.
