The Living Wage – building the people’s
From November 2015 the Living Wage Foundation is launching a new national campaign to build a real Living Wage movement across the UK. A real Living Wage differs from the Living Wage recently announced by the Tory Government. The rates are higher, it applies to everyone over 18 (not just the over 25s) and there is a higher rate in place for London.
Horsham Labour Party is keen to get involved in Living Wage Week ( 1st – 7th November 2015). We are currently talking to other local political, business and charitable organisations to promote interest in forming an official Living Wage Campaign Group for Horsham
District with the aim of encouraging and supporting employers to pay the Living Wage as calculated by GLA Economics and the Centre for Research in Social Policy. This is a rate that reflects the true cost of living for all adults and if paid reduces reliance on some welfare benefits.
